How to lower Rocket League ping

Short answer

In Rocket League, turn on the network performance readouts to separate ping, jitter and packet loss. Then verify your region selection, run a short Ethernet test and stop background downloads.

In Rocket League, the moment of contact with the ball rests on a continuous physics calculation. When the connection fluctuates, the position on your screen diverges from the one the server accepts and the ball appears to snap into place.

Epic's support documentation explains that the in-game network performance readouts can be used to diagnose these symptoms. Changing settings without measuring is guesswork.

1. Turn on the network performance readouts

Make the network performance readouts visible in settings and watch ping, jitter and packet loss across a few matches. Epic's documentation recommends them for connection diagnosis.

Match the moments the ball physics snap against the spikes on the readout. If the two coincide, the symptom is network-related.

2. Verify the region selection

Matchmaking settings include a region selection. Playing from Turkey, the European region gives the shortest path; ticking several distant regions can shorten queues but raises the ping floor.

3. Rule out home network and background traffic

A short Ethernet test eliminates Wi-Fi-induced fluctuation. If the readouts settle on a wired link, start with wireless conditions.

Background downloads and backups can make small game packets wait. Stop them before a match.

  • Run a short Ethernet comparison.
  • Pause launcher downloads.
  • Turn off streaming and cloud backup.
  • Repeat the same test during a quieter hour.

A quick Rocket League check

  • Turn on the network performance readouts.
  • Verify the region selection.
  • Match ball snapping against spikes on the readout.
  • Pause downloads and backups.
  • Run a short Ethernet comparison.

Common questions about Rocket League ping

How do I turn on the network readouts in Rocket League?
You can make the network performance readouts visible from the settings menu. Epic's support documentation recommends them for diagnosing ping, jitter and packet loss.
Why does the ball suddenly teleport somewhere else?
That is usually a packet-loss or high-jitter symptom. The server tries to predict the missing information and corrects the position once the real data arrives. If it coincides with spikes on the readout, the cause is network-related.
Does ZeroLag support Rocket League?
Not yet. The current scope is Windows, Counter-Strike 2 and the Istanbul exit. Rocket League is among the planned titles in the catalog.

Measure it on Counter-Strike 2 first.

ZeroLag currently covers Windows, Counter-Strike 2 and the Istanbul exit. This title is not supported yet, so today you can only test the route difference on CS2.
