How to lower Apex Legends ping

Short answer

Apex Legends lists ping and packet loss per server on its data centre screen. Use that list to pick a server with both a low ping and clean loss, then rule out your home network with an Ethernet test.

One of the most useful things about Apex Legends is that its data centre screen shows each server's ping and packet loss side by side. That brings a measurement most games need separate tools for directly into the client.

The list is also a good diagnostic: if every server shows loss, the problem is most likely on your side; if only one does, that server or the path to it becomes the suspect.

1. Read the data centre list

Open the server selection screen and read the ping and packet loss columns together. If the lowest-ping server shows loss, a slightly higher-ping but clean server can feel better.

Automatic selection does not always produce the best result. Checking the values a few times, at different hours, gives a more reliable picture.

Loss on every server points at your side. Loss on just one points at that path or that server.

2. Rule out your home network

A short Ethernet test is the quickest way to eliminate Wi-Fi-induced loss and fluctuation. If the list cleans up on a wired link, start with in-home wireless conditions.

Background downloads and backups can distort the values in the list too. Repeat the measurement after stopping them.

3. Separate latency from frame rate

Apex moves fast, so a low frame rate creates a heaviness that resembles network latency. If the values in the server list look normal but the game stutters, check graphics settings, drivers and temperatures.

A quick Apex Legends check

  • Read ping and loss together in the data centre list.
  • Try the clean server even if its ping is slightly higher.
  • Repeat the measurement at different hours.
  • Run a short Ethernet comparison.
  • Pause downloads and backups.

Common questions about Apex Legends ping

How do I change servers in Apex Legends?
The data centre selection screen gives you the server list. It shows ping and packet loss for each one, so you can choose by measurement rather than guesswork.
Should I always pick the lowest-ping server?
Not always. Check the packet loss column too. A server with slightly higher ping but no loss can feel better than the lowest-ping one that is dropping packets.
Does ZeroLag support Apex Legends?
Not yet. The current scope is Windows, Counter-Strike 2 and the Istanbul exit. Apex Legends is among the planned titles in the catalog.

Measure it on Counter-Strike 2 first.

ZeroLag currently covers Windows, Counter-Strike 2 and the Istanbul exit. This title is not supported yet, so today you can only test the route difference on CS2.
